ABOUT CROOKED OAK FARM
Crooked Oak Farm is set on a small parcel of land which was once part of the local Iron industry. The house on the property was built in the late 1700s for the paymaster of the ore mine. The propery has a gradual slope with perfect southern exposure, making growing here ideal. Most of the land was left dormant for more than 40 years before it was bought by the current owner; Alexandra Hunter.
Alexandra and her significant other; Steven began preparing and working the land in 2014 shortly after it was purchased. Alexandra has an associates degree in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management from Northwestern Community College, more than 20 years experience in horticulture and is a professional floral designer. These qualifications combined with her absolute love of plants, flowers and the outdoors inspired a lifelong dream of one day having a small, sustainable farm. Thus was born Crooked Oak Farm, which she and Steven named after the little crooked Oak tree; small but mighty, on the South-Eastern corner of the property where Ore Hill road and Rt 44 meet in Lakeville, CT.
